Selling Products Or Services On Smart Phones.
On April 21st 2015, Google changed the rankings for all websites. Those with mobile friendly sites rank higher than those without.
What does this mean? If you have not got a website that is mobile friendly i.e. changes to fit on a tablet or phone screen, your Google ranking will have dropped.
What do you need to do about it? Make your website mobile friendly.
Why? According to Google, 67% of users are more likely to buy from a site if it has a mobile friendly site. Mobiles are causing an increase in impulse buying in the UK and some statistics rate the percentage of people under 34 years whom are purchasing online via a mobile to be as high as 62%. Overall as many as 32% of UK people will make purchases on their mobile devices.
What does this mean for social media? The vast majority of people are on at least one social media site daily. Selling your services or products does not mean advertising your products directly with prices etc, it is about letting your customers know you are there. You must have a presence and engage, build up a relationship, become an expert, share articles of interest, network and when your followers need to buy items that you sell, they will probably turn to your company.
How many people use their phones for social media engagement? Its as high as 86% for Twitter uses and 68% for Facebook users. If they like what they see in your posts, they are going to follow it up with a click on your website, but if it is not mobile friendy, you will have just lost a customer.
Action plan:
1. Make sure your website is mobile friendly and your product or service can easily be purchased from a phone or tablet.
2. Make sure you have active and engaging social media sites with a growing following. Twitter, Facebook and Google+ are all essential.
